Everyone at St Francis of Assisi had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day!
Reception and P1 enjoyed listening to the story of Elmer this week. We discussed Elmer’s feelings and then made the character Elmer using some junk art materials.
In P2 we based our fun activities around the fairytale Jack and the Beanstalk. We added speech bubbles to the story characters and have painted our own huge beanstalk which will be put up in our classroom for Jack to climb and visit the Giant-FE FI FO FUM!!
Lá Domhanda na Leabhar - Bhain Rang 1/2 sult as scéal SUPERTATO an tseachtain seo and we had a go at making our own Supertato characters-Is breá linn iad! Bean Uí Thuathail also brought in her favourite book, Peepo by Alan Ahlberg, that she used to read to her own children, when they were little. Bhí sé iontach maith ar fad!
Primary 3 enjoyed reading the story “The Princess and the Frog”. They then made puppets and presented a puppet show retelling the first part of the story. Some excellent shows were performed! The children also made some bookmarks to use when they are reading their favourite books.
Primary 4 pupils enjoyed taking part in the interactive online book quiz and created book marks in the afternoon. A very busy class!
Primary 5 took part in the online Literacy Footy and Book World Book Day quiz. A fun morning and we got to see lots of famous international football players. The boys and girls shared their favourite stories and books with one another. Colourful and thoughtful book covers and blurbs were created and a fun day was enjoyed by everyone.
Bhí an-spraoi ag Rang 3/ 4. We wrote about our favourite reading memories and have plans to make a class book of memories together. Then we got creative and designed book covers for favourite books and wrote blurbs for our stories also.
Primary 6 and Primary 7 read to the children in Reception, Primary 1, Primary 2 and Rang 1/2. The boys and girls had a fantastic time listening to the stories and talking about their favourite characters and scenes.
